The BARSKA 10×25 WP Atlantic Monocular was not our first choice. We juggled with four other potentials, including two high-priced units, until choosing between this one and the Barska Blueline 10×40 Close Focus Monocular.
Because this Barska 10×25 offered waterproofing (which means unlikeliness of fog), along with a lower price, we chose it instead. The 10×40 model does offer better benefits, including the large 40mm objective lens that gathers more light for increased clarity and color fidelity. However, lack of weatherproofing and ruggedness for outdoor enthusiasts like us would prove challenging.
Thus far, we are quite pleased with this purchase, but will be sure to update this Review should our thoughts change in the field.

I bought this to avoid the bulk and need to unfold smaller binoculars. It does the job perfectly! Fitting in the palm of your hand it provides a great picture and it is rugged to boot.

My reference standard for this review is Zeiss roof prism armored 10×40 B T*, fast focus at 0.7 turns, close focus about 22 feet, FOV about 340 yards. Decades old and still going strong.
Build: Body/frame appears to be metal covered with rubber/plastic. Center hinge adjustment for eye spacing feels weak and may shift with handling.
Case/Strap: Poor, stretch type fabric case, no real protection. Strap, did not remove from package, appears to be like a coiled twine. Can’t get any cheaper than this strap.
Eye Cups: Twist type with no clicks, fully down or up only. Fragile in build and inconsistent, Sometimes the diopter side would let light thru because the plastic shield would not move out with the cup.
Diopter: Fair with no click stops.
Durability: Appears will take some jolts and bangs. Water proofness is probably limited to getting it wet, I wouldn’t submerse these or most other binocs.
Focus: Fair speed at 1.3 turns, stop to stop. Feel is inconsistent and wide knob makes for easy two finger action. Slack felt or play noticed. Close focus is about 13 feet.
Lens Caps: Fair, just plain caps.
View: Narrow FOV at about 275 feet. Center focus is poor and bad at the edges. Awful focus at night viewing a license plate from about 30 yards. Can’t read the plate while it can be read with my reference and a Barska 7×42. During day light isn’t any better, constantly trying to focus because clarity just isn’t acceptable.
Conclusion, I find these Barska Atlantic 12×50 to be unacceptable. The high magnification and fast lens speed (large objective lens) appears to exceed acceptable design limits. Perhaps the Marketing department is linked directly to product development. IMO a real waste of glass, metal, and labor. This make and model is not available in my local area, poor/awful performance would be obvious in store. Amazon appears to be reasonable about return and refund.
4 Rhoades
Pros: Easy to focus (even with my perscription glasses). Good value for money.
Cons: They are heavy; wish they were any color but green; and most of all, the neck strap is way too thin. But I have bought other binoculars and the straps are always too thin and cut if you want to wear them around your neck.
Bottom line: I would still buy them again. Will search for a replacement strap.

I can see really well with these; I wear glasses but using these without my glasses on I can see as well with the glasses on.
I find them easy to focus once you get used to them.
Keep in mind you can’t see things very close up (but why would you want to?) and very, very far away.
I use them while kayaking to watch birds and found them to be perfect for that.

These are a good, solid pair of binoculars. The view is crisp and bright. Focusing is fine enough, though to nit-pick, not as smooth as it could be. I could view objects at the specified 20 feet, but I had to strain my eyes a bit for it. Still, they are 10x magnification, so chances are if you’re getting them, you are planning on viewing things farther away than 20 feet. If you want to see something that close, consider this same binocular in an 8×32.Barska Atlantic 8×32 Waterproof Binocular
They are a little heavier than I had hoped, but that probably reflects their sturdiness. Getting a harness helps. It takes a bit to adjust them to your eyes, but once you do, they are great.
Overall, I’m happy with this purchase, especially given the price. I’d recommend these for anyone looking for a 10x pair of binoculars.
